Just My Type-O

Does anyone else enjoy typos as much as I do?

Today I was having lunch with a friend and we were talking politics (it is the Gubernatorial Primary in Massachusetts today - Go Deval and Deb! I know I made a joke a while back about how I wasn't too enthused for Deval but I take it back. He really listened regarding autism spectrum issues, for one thing. And Deb is totally pro-public education.). Okay, enough politics.

When we were done with our delightful lunch, of Greek salad with grilled chicken, we stopped by my car to talk some more. We saw a sign outside on the windows of the restaurant:

1) One Egg - coffee- juice-bacon- toast $3.50 [or something like that]
2) Egg - coffee-juice-bacon-toast $4.50
3) Egg - coffee-juice-bacon-toast $4.95

I said, "Whoa, I want the most expensive egg breakfast!" We were laughing so hard we were crying and needless to say our aging bladders were heavily taxed.

I also remember a sign in downtown Philadelphia, that my sister and I still laugh about: Ronald's Fabrics
Fabrics from "All Around The" World.

Also, I get mail to The Honorable Susan because some mailing programs think I'm a senator!

Oh, and I almost forgot! (thanks, Mom, for reminding me) Anyone from Boston remember the old coffee shop at the Copley stop on the Green Line? "Dave's Cofffe shop!" And then it read:

Newspapers * Juice* Donuts * Cigarettes * Cofffe,

I swear!!!!!

In the Navy-Stanford football game on Saturday, one of the Navy player's jersey's had NAYV. Someone Hooked on Phonics I guess (Nay-Vee).

Stamford, CT. The Crystal Burger downtown used to have a HUGE banner sign for years that said, "We Don't Cut Corner"

That missing "s" bothered me for a long time.

Posted in my local Walmart, a hand-made sign--"We no longer process photos. Sorry for any convenience." Also, at my grocery store: "For your convenience we do not accept credit cards."

In a little town in Montana on the big sign out at the street announcing info for the community college, there was a message about a course on "editting".

I make so many typos, it's not funny, but I love to find them in other people's writing and mock them... not so nice of me... I know.

Ooh, an ironic typo! Thanks, Camille. I think it's perfectly fine to laugh at any typo. And I HATE it when I make them!!! I'm a Hippo-crit (That's a REALLY BIG hypocrite).

My favorite was the intentional typo that cause a big stir in Toronto.
Two brothers opened a dry cleaning business that also did laundry folding on the side. (They'd wash, dry and fold your clothes for yout.) They named their store "The Wong Brothers." It was their slogan that got them in trouble...

"Two Wongs make it White."
Apparently people found it offensive, and the courts ordered them to change it. I thought it was funny as hell.

This is a great one. I think that if the Wong Brothers themselves thought it was okay, then it should have been. I do believe that the owners of stereotypes have more rights than others to joke about themselves. Sounds like a future blog post to me...

My next blog topic is a doozy. I've kind of started a one sided vendetta, and I am going to burst if I don't spell it all out soon.
Besides, it's fun to vent my spleen sometimes. :D
