It's Easy Being Green

Here is my Edge of Town essay, the regular column I do for the Brookline Tab, my local paper. I had a lot of fun with this one. How about that picture? Do I still even look like that? It was taken in February 2005.

(Getting all nostalgic for the MPWA years because the new book project is now moving along to a new stage. I have to meet with my editor and hammer out the details, and then line up some parents to talk to (whose kids have disabilities other than autism). If you are a mom who meets that description, e-me. We need to tawk.)

I love the article! I have been contending with the whole nasty gas issue, transporting it, putting it in the mower, all of that. I hate using it. I wanted to get a reel mower some time ago, but my husband said, Do you know how hard those are to use? I think I am going to give it a try. We have a half acre plot, but the house is in the middle, so maybe I would have to cut a little more than half of that.

Did you know that people can hear you sing while you cut grass? I had no idea until recently that my voice rose above the lawnmower. Not that that's stopped me from singing... anyhow, I enjoy reading your column.

Oh, although my older son has a recent dx of PDD-NOS (for various reasons), his dx since birth is agenesis of the corpus callosum (the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres of the brain doesn't exist for him). My other son was also diagnosed as on the spectrum but has no obvious structural neurological differences like his brother.
