1974<\/p>\n<p>This summer I did take<br \/>many a trip to the ole&#8217; Cape<br \/>There I did many things fun<br \/>Mostly made of sand and sun<br \/>But there was so much more<br \/>There was Mom and Dad, there was Laur<br \/>There were dinners out with Neddy Sweets<br \/>Where I ate many tasty treats<br \/>We went to P-Town not once but twice<br \/>And went into stores both naughty and nice<br \/>We made friends with a groovy lifeguard<br \/>I ogled him while on his surboard<br \/>Mom turned sixty-seven<br \/>I baked her a pie that tasted like heaven<br \/>Blueberry peach with cornmeal crust<br \/>Breaking Atkins was a real must<br \/>I bought some belly dance clothes<br \/>And stuck a magnetic diamond in my nose<br \/>(I&#8217;m too much of a wimp to get a real pierce)<br \/>And hey, the ache in my knee is no longer fierce<br \/>My puppies rolled and played in the waves<br \/>Benji learned he was really brave<br \/>Now it&#8217;s high tide that he craves<br \/>And the lifeguard had to make no saves<br \/>Except if you count Ned swimming into a school of blues<br \/>We heard that they can really a body abuse<br \/>You could lose a finger or a toe<br \/>Or some other appendage, don&#8217;t you know<br \/>So that was kind of scary, but also funny<br \/>And the fish did not eat my Honey<br \/>Nat is still the champ at riding a board<br \/>But flat waves make him really bored<br \/>All he wants to do is eat junk<br \/>And if he doesn&#8217;t get to, he goes into a funk<br \/>Max still practices juggling pins and balls<br \/>He lost a bit of a tooth, that&#8217;s all<br \/>We are ready to leave this place, if we must<br \/>And go back home to a house of dust<br \/>To school preparation, to lots of mail<br \/>I hope that my newly learned optimism does not fail.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/app.tabblo.com\/studio\/stories\/view\/102662\/\"><br \/><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/app.tabblo.com\/studio\/image\/public\/19314\/80eb30de7ab6f444997064ddd3c15baa.png?resize=415%2C431\" alt=\"Tabblo: Summer's End\" height=\"431\" width=\"415\" \/><br \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/app.tabblo.com\/studio\/stories\/view\/102662\/\">See my Tabblo><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summertime done come and gone, my oh my.&#8211;Grateful Dead, &#8220;U.S. Blues,&#8221;
