{"id":347,"date":"2008-11-21T08:37:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-21T08:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/susansenator.com\/blog2\/2008\/11\/seeking-autistic-wisdom\/"},"modified":"2008-11-21T08:37:00","modified_gmt":"2008-11-21T08:37:00","slug":"seeking-autistic-wisdom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/susansenator.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/seeking-autistic-wisdom\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeking Autistic Wisdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am now calling for advice <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">for <\/span>parents, words of wisdom and encouragement and honesty (all or some of the above), <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">from ASD adults, whether you are parents or not.<\/span>  Obviously one can&#8217;t generalize or apply all advice to all cases, but I&#8217;m sure there will be some important messages you&#8217;d like to convey to autism parents, along the lines of <a href=\"http:\/\/susansenator.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/you-dont-need-to-blend-in.html\">Amanda&#8217;s video<\/a> or  <a href=\"http:\/\/web.syr.edu\/%7Ejisincla\/dontmourn.htm\">Jim Sinclair&#8217;s &#8220;Don&#8217;t Mourn for Us.&#8221;<\/a>  (In fact, if anyone can forward this to Jim or Amanda, I&#8217;d love to contact them myself, if that&#8217;s possible.)  I am also interested in resources from ASD adults, whether blogs, books, or associations or organizations that have felt helpful, empowering, and\/or informational to you; also conferences (like Autreat?) that parents can attend to help them feel less confused, and more able to nurture and to parent successfully.<\/p>\n<p>If you have thoughts on various approaches that you feel are helpful for you (fun, educational, therapeutic?) please let me know.  I would also like to know what has felt hurtful or harmful.
