Hamantaschen for Purim!

Today is Purim, a Jewish holiday celebrating the triumph of good people over a really bad guy, Haman.  We bake cookies shaped like Haman's hat and eat them as part of the celebration.

Here is the battleground, er, prep area.

I made apple filling for our hamantaschen.

We rolled out the dough to 1/3" thick and cut it with 3" drinking glasses.

Put a spoonful of filling in the middle of each dough disc.

Wet the area around the filling.

Pinch the dough into a tricorn hat, which Haman, the bad guy wore (350 BCE or so). When Ben finished his, he pronounced it "adorable." It certainly was. The cookie, too.

Nat made some, too.

They were SO good!
