Susan’s Blog: Cave Blogem

I am told that I make this blog too personal, and some close friends and family feel voyeuristic reading it. I am also told that I’m an idiot for stating my opinions about certain current events. I won’t go into that here. Go into my archives if you want to know what I’m talking about.

My blog is my blog. Maybe I need a tag line, so that people will know what to expect and will not be put off in one way or another by reading it. My tag line would say something like: Susan’s Blog, about relationships, life observations, sex, fashion, comedy, autism, love, and parenting. I write about all those things, so caveat emptor. Or is it cave canem? Buyer beware, beware of dog. Maybe it should be cave blogem, and let the surfer beware.

I’ve found your posting style inspirational. Honesty is always dangerous but it’s the foundation of good art.

I think some of the confusion might be from those who are directed here via the link to the autism-hub, expecting to read about ASD-related issues and then perhaps surprised/confused/dismayed to find it’s not an ASD-specific blog. That’s all; nothing more, nothing less.

E pluribus unum!

Non nobis solum Sed toti mundo nati!

Or, as the great Elvis Costello once said, “I didn’t mean to say it, I just blurted it out, and you pretended not to notice or be taken aback; I loved you there and then, it’s as simple as that.”

For what it is worth, I read your blog every week. I love it when your writings are about everyday life. Its a reminder that we are more than a Mom to a child with considerable special needs….sometimes it is really really hard to remember that!

there’s nos such thing as too personal! if they feel “voyeuristic” reading it then tell them to go read something else!
your blog is one of the most refreshing, interesting and engaging blogs ive found in a long time and i love reading it. i hate boring blogs that just talk about superficial issues and dont tell you how the person is really feeling.
you remind us that is all okay to be human when you post about your emotions. whoever told you its not ok to talk about your emotions are obviously not comfortable with having the same emotions themselves and seem to think they should be swept under the rug!
/end rant…I hate when people say things like that. If you can’t rant about your life in your own blog, then where can you rant about it?
