Baby Ben

This last movie is from December 1998, when Ben was about 10 months old, at our lovely little yellow house. Ned’s dad and stepmom are in it. Also our friends Sheila, Sam and Elizabeth make an appearance in this one. Max is 6 and Nat is 8.

So sweet. It makes me miss my kids, and my kids are sitting right here on the sofa, next to me.

I love the way Max plays with Ben.

Do you miss those days?

Thank you for sharing those precious videos. My 3 year old is autistic, so I was curious to see “young Nat”. I can never know what the future holds for us, but I worry about it every day. One question I hadn’t ever considered, maybe you covered this in the book I can’t remember, but did you just worry constantly about Max and Ben’s development? I wonder if I ever have another- how will I suppress the anxiety?! I have two older children but until my youngest was born, I didn’t realize that it was even possible for ME to have a child with disabilities.

So sweet to watch. I have a 10 year old son w/Aspergers and a 7 year son old w/more severe autism. I also have a 2 month old son. I read your blog a lot and always find similarities with your family. It’s fun to see the kids, and especially Ben at such a cute age. And the interaction between Max and Ben–my 10 year old likes to play with the baby a lot. My 7 year old is a sweet boy, much like Nat seems to be (from your book & blog), and I hope he grows up to be kind and happy like Nat seems to be from how you describe him. Thanks! Cathy
