Can I wear this red dress to my sister-in-law’s June wedding? Do people think red is a problem? I love it!! My husband’s stepmother says no; my husband says yes! Do the old rules still apply?
I also have a fabulous black one (sleeveless, halter neck, A-line, ruffled hem). What do people think about black? It is a noon wedding, on the water.

Oh my god, you look smashing! Hooray for the treadmill and iPod. Yes, you can wear it to a noon wedding.
What kind of water?
It might be too sexy by a pool at a chichi hotel, but might look refreshing by a lake. Hmmm. Do you dare ask the bride? A hat would be great. I love hats. What’s the fabric?
You look beautiful, anyway. π
Your husband was smart enough to marry you, why not trust his subjective opinion?

you look amazing, red looks hot, but maybe ask the bride…but you know you want to wear it…on second thought don’t ask the bride cause she probably won’t tell you the truth…LOL…

Not a pool, don’t worry.
Thanks for the input; so far, so good for my red dress.
I think you go for it. If anyone thinks/says anything, it’ll be “damn, why don’t I look that good???” If Ned is anything like my husband, he’ll be strutting around at the wedding saying, “yup, that’s my woman!”
I’m the Bride and was among the first to say Fabulous dress, it’s great! And mean it!
Moms everywhere should envy being able to look that good in a little red dress. If the Bride says wear it, Ned loves you in it, you don’t need my opinion. How ’bout wearing it for the Federation conference next week? You’ll sure wake everyone up. LOL

You are the BEST!!!

Thank you! But I will be wearing a suit to the Federation Conference.
Thanks to you all for making me feel so good on such a grey day!
Susan,
You look great in the dress! I also love the paneling in the house. My guess is that it’s a 1920’s bungalow or arts & craft home.
thanks!
Actually, it is an 1880’s Colonial Revival/Victorian designed for John Cabot, an eccentric old bachelor. It is an eccentric, weird old house that is so male, full of dark heavy woodwork, strange little rooms that don’t connect, and huge windows on the north side! So that little corner is MINE, painted white and light.
It is a perfect house for this quirky, mostly male family, surrounding one very female person!
No doubt, wear the red dress! You look great!
Wear the red to the wedding. If you’re going to the rehearsal dinner, wear the black one to that.
My rule of thumb is, you don’t wear black to a wedding, and you don’t wear white to someone else’s wedding. Black or white for the rehearsal dinner is just fine, though.
And how could you not wear it when you look so good in it? π
Susan I WOULD”NT change a thing you look AWESOME in the red dress!
DON
Hi Susan,
OMG You look stunning! No doubt you will be the hottest one there at the wedding! Wear the dress!
Correction, we all know that it is the BRIDE who will be the hottest one at the wedding! π Especially this one! Ned’s sister is Botticelli-beatiful, blonde, and her dress is a stunner.
You look great with that dress
Red looks good on you.
Hot momma!
It’s a fab dress and you look rockin’ in it…as a back-up plan you could always go for the bellydancer look if you’re feeling VERY bold…Hehe…
Thank you! I was just looking to see if it was appropriate for me to wear a red dress to a wedding and everybodys comments helped! Thanks a million! Joy
You asked this question a long time ago, so you probably went to that wedding a long time ago too. So, why am I adding a comment? To let you know that I came across this picture of you in your red dress and I think you’re very hot! Wow, what a babe!
Thank you. I wore black but have since enjoyed the dress several times!
Hi. I, too, wish to wear a red –Laura Ashley–with long sleeves, slightly scooped neckline and down to the ankle dress to my step-daughter’s wedding next May.
When I saw your picture–I realized that it’s o.k. to wear red. Not so much your dress being red, but the way you carry yourself–works!
Good call not wearing black, you never want to wear white or red to the wedding, it is offensive to the bride as it can be viewed as attention seeking. You look great in the dress though!
