“…still limited in many ways by his autism — but more so by how we all underestimate him. Especially me.”

Oh, Susan, this really resonated with me tonight. I’m grappling with my own shifting paradigms about my son and what’s possible for him. Beautiful essay.

More than almost anything in “autism world”, this is what haunts me- that I will miss opportunities to foster his independence due to my fears, and there will be opportunities lost. Lovely piece, and a great daily reminder to me.
