Romantic Love For An Autistic Young Man

My latest column for WBUR/NPR’s “Cognoscenti” segment is out today. This piece was inspired a few weekends ago when Ned and I observed Nat as he sat quietly on the T next to a young woman his age.

Susan, I think about this all the time with Justin. He communicates on such a simple level, but he is so affectionate. He loves, and loves to demonstrate it. Along with my fervent wish that he be happy is always my wish for him to be loved by someone, whatever form that takes when he’s an adult. Loved this piece!
