I think your description of the Republican value system is too kind. Yes they say individuals are the best judges of how to spend their own money but the flip side — if you are not able to purchase what you need, too bad sucker! — is important, too.
That said, Congrats Nat! May you always exercise your franchise wisely, and may you always know gratitude for living in a country where everyone can have a voice.
